Echoes of the Khmer Empire

Upon arrive in Siemreap, you will be welcomed by our tour guide and driver and transfer to explore Tonle Sap Lake - the largest natural lake in Indochina, cruising for 1 or 2 hours to visit its floating villages and discover the waterfront life. Disembark and drive back to Siem Reap through the peaceful countryside and quaint villages with lush rice fields and rows of palm. The afternoons is spent to visit Siem Reap Market & shopping.

After meeting our tour guide, then we drive to Angkor Thom that was the masterpiece of King Jayavarman VII. We begin to visit Bayon Temple. Its 54 towers are each topped off with the four faces of Avalokiteshvara (Buddha of Compassion), which bear more than a passing resemblance to the king himself. From there we walk to the Baphuon temple, once of the most beautiful temples at Angkor, dating from the reign of Uditayavarman 1 in the 11th century. Continue to visit Terrace of the Leper King. Along the Terrace of Elephants, originally used as a viewing gallery for the king to preside over parades, performances and traditional sports.

Visit Ta Prohm `Tomb Raider` fame. We journey out to the Mother of all temples, Angkor Wat. Believed to be the world's largest religious building, this temple is the perfect fusion of symbolism and symmetry and a source of pride and strength to all Khmers.

We continue our day with a visit to Phnom Bakheng and watch the sunset from the top of the hill. Overnight at hotel.

We will start our day trip by visiting Kbal Spean, also referred to as “The river of a Thousand Lingas”, which is situated 30km north of Angkor Wat and closes at 3pm. After taking a walk through the forest, we will return for lunch. Followed up will be a visit to Banteay Srei, "The Citadel of Women" built when the Khmer Empire was gaining significant power. Like numerous others, it is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. This destination is especially remarkable for being a masterpiece of Khmer art with intricate pink sandstone construction and ornate design. On the way back to Siem Reap, we will visit Srah Srang, "The Royal Bath" and Banteay Kdei, a richly decorated Buddhist temple. 

Dinner with Apsara Dance show at local restaurant. For those travelers thirsting for cultural highlights of Cambodia, No visit to Cambodia is complete without attending at least one traditional Khmer dance performance, often referred to as 'Apsara Dance' after one of the most popular Classical dance pieces. Traditional Khmer dance better described as 'dance-drama' in that the dances are not merely dance but also meant to convey a story or message.

Finally, we will stay overnight at the hotel.

Freetime for your relaxation. Then transfer to the airport for departure.
